Las Anod Clashes Leave 20 People Dead

The ongoing clashes in Las Anod have left at least 20 people dead.

Las Anod has been the scene of deadly clashes in the last few days between security forces and anti-government protestors.

Somaliland security forces have been blamed for the clashes.

A doctor at one of the local hospitals said that he had counted at least 20 dead people from the clashes that continued into Sunday, January 1.

He added that dozens more had suffered injuries from the clashes.

Protestors want Somaliland to cede control of the city to the regional state of Puntland. They also want an end to the runaway insecurity in Las Anod.
