Leaders from the Federal Member States (FMS) and the opposition held a meeting in Mogadishu to discuss the ongoing electoral impasse.
President Ahmed Islam Madobe and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Jubbaland and Puntland respectively were the only FMS leaders present at the March 14 meeting.
They were joined in the meeting by leaders from the Council of Presidential Candidates Union.
Among these included Hassan Sheikh and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, two former presidents of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Jubbaland and Puntland leadership have continuously advocated for the implementation of the September 17 elections agreement.
The discussions between the political leaders will take place at the Halane Base Camp, which is a heavily fortified facility in Mogadishu.
