Less than 30 Percent of Somali Civil Servants Report for Duty Regularly

Less than 30 percent of civil servants in Somalia regularly report for duty.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently publicized these numbers while addressing officials of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

The President said that a new biometric system had captured this shocking data.

He added that 1,500 out of 5,000 civil servants show up for duty every day. He said that the biometric system had captured the time each employee shows up at the office.

Thus far, the biometric system had captured the details of only 5,000 civil servants.

He reiterated his belief that the workers who fail to report for duty do not exist. Alternatively, they probably live outside the country.
