Lower House to Make Swift Decision on Gedo Issue

The House of the People (Lower House) is set to make a swift decision on the Gedo issue soon.

Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi M. Gulaid said this on Wednesday, May 4 during a media interview.

Legislators from Gedo were elected in controversial circumstances.

Elections for 16 lawmakers took place in El-Wak after the Federal Elections Implementation Team (FEIT) determined that Garbaharey was too unsafe and insecure.

However, some FEIT officials proceeded with the Garbaharey polls.

Consequently, the newly-elected legislators were unable to take part in elections for the leadership of the House of the People.

Their participation in parliamentary affairs also remains unclear until the issue is determined.
