Minister of Agriculture Mohamed A. Hayir Maareeye represented Somalia at the 17th Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference, hosted by Germany.
The conference, which gathered ministers from 62 nations and representatives of international organizations, addressed critical global food security challenges.
One of the key points emphasized during the conference was the urgent need for reliable, sustained, sufficient, and unhindered access to food for civilians in conflict-affected regions, including Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, the Gaza Strip, Yemen, and Lebanon.
Participants addressed growing concerns over the impact of wars and conflicts on global food security and nutrition.
Maareeye’s participation underscores Somalia’s commitment to addressing these challenges and advocating for solutions that support vulnerable populations, both regionally and globally.
