Madobe and Deni Accuse Farmaajo of Lacking Interest in Constructive Electoral Talks

Jubbaland and Puntland regional state leaders joined hands in accusing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of lacking interest in constructive electoral talks.

President Ahmed Islam Madobe and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Jubbaland and Puntland respectively made this accusation on March 31.

The two regional state leaders made these accusations against Farmaajo on March 31.

In their view, Farmaajo has made little effort to hide the fact that he is against constructive electoral talks.

Since last week, the international community has sought to mediate talks between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).

However, those efforts fell short when the talks collapsed in Mogadishu without any agreement being signed between the stakeholders.

Madobe and Deni said this is the latest sign of Farmaajo’s unwillingness to find solutions for the months-long impasse.
