President Ahmed Islam Mohamed Madobe of Jubbaland has arrived in Garowe for talks with his Puntland counterpart, President Said Abdullahi Deni.
Madobe’s trip to Puntland comes a day after he returned from Nairobi where his office said he traveled for medical reasons.
The talks between Madobe and Deni are reportedly on Somalia’s ongoing transitional activities.
The two leaders were conspicuously absent as leaders from different parts of the country met in Dhusamareb to discuss the best electoral model to use in the upcoming polls in Somalia.
Both Madobe and Deni issued letters providing reasons for failure to attend the Dhusamareb talks.
Primarily, the two leaders said that they could not trust the government’s commitment to implementing any agreement reached in Galmudug without an international guarantor.
While Madobe was in Nairobi for medical treatment, Deni was on an official tour in Djibouti.
