Mogadishu, Somalia – The House of the People Speaker, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, marked International Civil Aviation Day on Sunday by calling for increased investment in training and regulation as the nation solidifies control over its airspace.
During his speech, Madobe emphasized that Somalia’s recent achievements in recovering and managing its skies require a competent workforce to ensure long-term sustainability.
He directed the Ministry of Transport and the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) to focus on comprehensive, ongoing training programs that would enable Somali aviation professionals to meet global performance standards.
The Speaker noted that Parliament has already passed legislation to strengthen the SCAA and would expedite any further regulations necessary for sector modernization.
According to Madobe, robust legal and institutional frameworks are crucial for Somalia to guarantee safe air navigation, draw investment, and enhance regional aviation connections. His comments reflect the wider national initiative to reconstruct vital governmental institutions following prolonged periods of instability.
Aviation authorities and international representatives at the gathering endorsed his statements, highlighting Somalia’s expanding airspace management capabilities as a significant indicator of institutional rehabilitation and economic revitalization.
