Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe has fired a fugitive minister who plans to align himself with authorities in Mogadishu.
Abdirashid Janaan, a fugitive minister who has been hiding from Mogadishu for years, is on the verge of switching allegiance to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
On March 23, reports emerged that Janaan planned to surrender to the government of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo in Mogadishu.
Consequently, Madobe has relieved him of his ministerial duties.
Madobe is one of the fiercest critics of President Farmaajo. Janaan too has been at loggerheads with Farmaajo for ages.
However, Janaan seems to have buried the hatchet with Farmaajo.
Their new association could have serious ramifications in not only Jubbaland but the rest of the country too.
