President Ahmed Islam Madobe of the semiautonomous state of Jubbaland remains committed to the upcoming Somalia elections only if the Gedo issue is resolved first.
Madobe issued this reassurance during a speech he delivered at the celebrations organized to mark the Second Anniversary of Puntland’s elections.
He said that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has to be “fair when dealing with Jubbaland just as he is with all the other states.”
Madobe urged the government of President Farmaajo to find a peaceable solution for the Gedo dispute as soon as possible.
Moreover, Madobe encouraged President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor of Galmudug to provide details of his ongoing talks with Farmaajo.
