President Ahmed Islam Mohamed Madobe of Jubbaland has indicated that his dispute with President Mohamed Farmaajo could end soon.
Madobe says the two leaders could sign a peace deal as soon as August 2020.
The reports emerged following the recent meeting between Farmaajo, ousted Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, and all regional leaders in Dhusamareb, Galmudug.
While in Galmudug’s administrative capital, Madobe and Farmaajo held several closed-door meeting to iron out their personal differences.
Farmaajo has been against Madobe ever since the latter was elected the President of Jubbaland almost a year ago.
Further, forces loyal to the two leaders have also clashed severally in the last year.
On Friday, while speaking to the media in Kismayo, Madobe promised an end to the altercations with Farmaajo.
He said that they would sign a peace deal before the second phase of talks between Farmaajo’s Federal Government of Somalia and the five leaders of the Federal Member States commences.
