Eng. Mohamud Abdi Mohamed Dhudhi, the manager in charge of the Berbera Corridor project in Somaliland, has tendered his resignation.
Eng. Dhudhi was appointed manager by President Musa Bihi Abdi on June 3, 2020.
His resignation comes hot on the heels of reports of irreconcilable differences with Abdilahi Abokor, Somaliland’s Minister of Roads and Transport.
According to unconfirmed reports, Abokor insisted that the team tasked with the construction of the Berbera Corridor had to report directly to him.
However, Abokor’s view is different from the letter President Bihi wrote to Abu Dhabi Fund for Development when appointing Eng. Dhudhi’s team.
In that letter, President Bihi never mentioned a role that the roads and transport ministry had to play in the project.
The letter indicated that the team would be reporting directly to President Bihi.
Eng. Dhudhi wrote a letter of resignation addressed to the President who accepted it and appointed Isse Yusuf Mohamed Hamari to replace him.
It is worth mentioning that Bihi had expressed displeasure with the pace of the project, which has so far seen only 12kms of the corridor completed in the last one year.
