Mature locusts have been sighted in Hargeisa.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) confirmed that the locusts were sighted in the capital of Somaliland over the last few days.
Consequently, FAO deployed a team featuring a plant protection specialist to Hargeisa.
The specialist and his team met with local officials to discuss ways of tackling the locusts before they devastate Hargeisa and the surrounding areas.
