Military Repulse Al-Shabaab Attacks in Several Villages in Somalia

Officials of the Somali military have told state media that government soldiers repulsed overnight attacks that Al-Shabaab had planned in several villages.

According to the officials, members of the Al-Qaeda linked group had planned to attack two villages, Anole and Sabiid, which are near Afgoye on Thursday night.

However, Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers in the area arrived at the scene and quashed the planned terror attacks.

Lately, Al-Shabaab seems to have increased the frequency of its attacks in the country.

Nevertheless, the military officers who showed up in the villages near Afgoye prevented what could have turned into a bloody incident.

The officers told the state media that they had prior information on the planned attack.
