Somaliland’s cabinet ministers have expressed their gratitude to the United Kingdom parliament for the recent debate on international recognition.
For decades, Somaliland has sought international recognition unsuccessfully.
For the last two years, it has established diplomatic relations with Taiwan.
The breakaway region has opened a Somaliland Representative Office in Taiwan as the Asian nation does the same back in Hargeisa.
This week, President Muse Bihi Abdi chaired the 86th Council of Ministers meeting.
During the meeting, members of President Bihi’s administration commended the UK Members of Parliament (MPs) for debating Somaliland’s quest for official recognition.
MP Gavin Williams tabled the motion before the House of Commons.
