The Ministry of Social Affairs has announced plans to extend aid to vulnerable communities in Somaliland.
Ms. Hinda Jama Hersi, the Minister of Employment and Social Affairs, made the announcement while announcing the ministry’s COVID-19 plans.
She said that her ministry would provide accommodation to the homeless members of the society in different parts of the country.
Additionally, she says that the social affairs ministry has created a new scheme designed to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on the homeless of the society.
The social affairs minister said that the new scheme would target street children, beggars, and mentally unstable people.
Furthermore, she announced that the ministry would be conducting census on villages around Hargeisa to determine all the vulnerable members of the society.
Ms. Hersi’s announcement comes just as the government imposed a lockdown in the country to curb the spread of COVID-19.
