Mogadishu Curfew Lifted as Presidential Elections End

The Somali government has lifted the curfew it had imposed in Mogadishu since 9pm on Saturday, May 14.

According to a government directive, the curfew was to end on Monday, May 16 at 6am.

Authorities imposed a curfew to secure the venue where the presidential elections were to take place on Sunday.

The government went ahead to cancel all flights into and out of the nation’s capital.

Fortunately, the elections proceeded smoothly without any interference by militants or unhappy supporters of any politician.
