Ali Abdi Wardere, the Deputy Mayor of Mogadishu, has called for the arrest of a Somaliland traditional leader for supporting Al-Shabaab.
Wardere called upon authorities to arrest King Osman Mohamud Burmadow.
According to Wardere, King Burmadow had recognized Ahmed Godane, the deceased leader of the Al-Shabaab militia group as one of Somalia’s few leaders.
Burmadow allegedly made the remarks while in Mogadishu.
He was speaking at a function in the nation’s capital, which he is currently visiting for two weeks.
Wardere stated that the Benadir Regional Administration (BRA) had applied for a warrant of arrest from the courts.
