The Mayor of Mogadishu has called upon local homeowners to repair and decorate their homes as a matter of urgency.
Mayor Yusuf Madale issued the call on Sunday at a public event.
In his speech, Mayor Madale said that homeowners who are unable to do this would be penalized.
“Homeowners who are unable to repair or decorate their homes would have to compensate private businesses that pick up the tab on their behalf,” said Mayor Madale.
He mentioned that his administration would hire private businesses to do these jobs.
Afterward, the private businesses would be allowed to rent the premises out to recover the costs of repairs and decorations where homeowners are unable to repay them.
