Mogadishu’s Digfer Hospital Shut Down After Three People Test Positive to COVID-19

Mogadishu’s Digfer Hospital has been shut down following reports that three people have tested positive to COVID-19.

The three are said to be doctors working at the facility that the Turkish government recently refurbished.

Consequently, one of the doctors at the facility confirmed that they would close it down for today.

News of the latest cases comes hot on the heels of reports that the Ministry of Health has thus far found nine positive COVID-19 tests at the hospital.

As the hospital remains shut today, healthcare specialists at the facility confirmed that they would continue receiving and treating pregnant women and victims of gun or knife wounds.

In the past week, the hospital was in the news after a 58-year old man who had initially been brought to the facility displaying COVID-19 symptoms later died at Martini Hospital.

Martini is the only hospital in Mogadishu equipped to handle COVID-19 cases.
