More candidates have joined the race to unseat Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo as the President of Somalia.
The East African nation is scheduled to hold its presidential elections in February 2021.
In the meantime, more aspirants are throwing their names into the ring to convince voters in the country to reelect them.
The latest entrant into a field that has already attracted 11 other candidates is Dahir Mohamud Gelle, a former Minister of Information in the Federal Government of Somalia.
Gelle also served as Somalia’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
He joins a field that includes the immediate former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.
Other names vying to unseat Farmaajo include Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, two former Presidents of Somalia.
Abdirahman Abdishakur, the leader of the opposition Wadajir Party, has also shown interest in the seat.
