More than Normal Rainfall Expected in Somalia, ICPAC Says

Somalia should experience more than normal rainfall in the next few days and weeks, a regional weather organization has announced.

Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) announced this through its IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Center (ICPAC) on April 5.

According to ICPAC, improved rainfall is expected in not only the southern and northern parts of Somalia but also in other countries in the region.

Some of these countries include Sudan, South Sudan, coastal Kenya, and southern Tanzania.

Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa region have experienced drought.

The situation has worsened due to the constantly failing rainfall. The rainfall season in the region has been unpredictable for the last three years.
