Abdirizak Mohamed has been elected to chair the 10-member committee that was appointed to prepare to elect the new speakers of both chambers of the federal parliament.
Mohamed is a local Member of Parliament (MP) and has also served the government before as a Minister of Security.
House of the People (Lower House) legislators held their first parliamentary session on April 16.
They appointed a 10-member committee to finalize preparations for electing the Speaker of the Lower House and that of the Senate (Upper House).
Currently, parliament appointed two of its oldest members as the speakers for the two chambers on an interim basis.
