A federal Member of Parliament (MP) has termed the killing of an Al-Shabaab leader “a great victory for the people of Somalia.”
Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu spoke on the killing of Abdullahi Nadir Yare, one of Al-Shabaab’s founders.
A joint operation between the Somali National Army (SNA) and some of the country’s international security partners, led to the killing of Yare.
According to the Somali government, security forces killed Yare in a joint operation carried out on October 1 in Middle Jubba.
Moalimuu spoke about his death on Monday.
He described Yare as one of the most dangerous leaders of Al-Shabaab.
The legislator added that Yare’s death is a huge blow to the Khawarij who are accustomed to shedding the blood of Somali citizens and robbing them of their properties.
