Mogadishu would have 13 seats in the country’s Upper House of Parliament if a motion by Members of Parliament sails through.
Yesterday, 130 MPs signed the motion that allocates 13 seats to Mogadishu in the upcoming Upper House.
Earlier this month, a parliamentary ad-hoc committee had recommended only seven seats to Mogadishu.
Nevertheless, some analysts feel that the MPs would first need to change the constitution to increase the number of seats in the Upper House from the current 54 to 67.
