Abdalle Ahmed Mumin has finally traveled from Mogadishu to Nairobi.
Mumin, an award-winning journalist, traveled to the Kenyan capital on Thursday.
Earlier, he had attempted to leave Mogadishu on Tuesday before authorities blocked him.
The journalist has been in and out of trouble with the federal government for almost 6 months.
Mumin is also the Secretary-General of the Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS).
His constant detention had attracted the attention of several embassies and organizations.
