The National Coalition Party has issued a statement condemning the Mogadishu curfew that the Federal Government of Somalia instituted as “illegal.”
Under the leadership of one of the country’s former presidents, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh, the party said the federal government has implemented an “unlawful” curfew.
The coalition issued a statement that read, “The curfew the government has imposed is illegal and does not adhere to proper procedures as stipulated in the constitution.”
Former President Sharif also expressed solidarity with the victims of the Bondere District killings. He sent his condolences to them too.
Sharif’s coalition pressed the government to uphold the principles of nationhood while safeguarding the country’s constitution.
President Mohamed Farmaajo’s administration has imposed the curfew and other measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the capital and other parts of the country too.
