Lieutenant General Diomede Ndegeya, the new Force Commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), visited Sector V troops in HirShabelle on Sunday.
The visit by Lt. Gen. Ndegeya was part of his ongoing tours to familiarize himself with the AMISOM troops in the country.
Lt. Gen. Ndegeya took over as the new Force Commander in August 2020.
The Sector V troops comprise Burundi National Defense Forces (BNDF) soldiers, who are mostly stationed in HirShabelle’s administrative capital of Jowhar.
Brig. Gen. Richard Banyakinbona, the Sector V Commander, received Ndegeya as he arrived at the base at the weekend.
Upon arriving, Lt. Gen. Ndegeya spent time inspecting a guard of honor mounted by several of his troops before proceeding to a closed-door meeting with senior AMISOM officials.
