A new maritime training center has been launched in Mogadishu.
The center came into existence on Tuesday, October 6.
Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sh. Ali, the federal Minister of Interior Security, launched the training center officially with other officials.
He was in the company of Major General Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar and Ambassador Larry Andre.
Maj. Gen. Hijar is the current boss of the Somali Police Force (SPF).
Andre is the United States Ambassador to Somalia.
The US pledged to support the training center with funding through the Department of State International.
