Somaliland’s ruling party – Kulmiye – published a list of the new members of its Central Council on October 12.
According to a statement from the party, the Central Council is now set to have 239 members.
The new members were approved at the party’s recent Grand Convention in Hargeisa during which President Muse Bihi Abdi was reelected the Party Leader.
The new members include 54 Members of Parliament.
Furthermore, delegates at the Grand Convention insisted on appointing members from different regions around the country.
Mayors elected under Kulmiye Party would also feature as members of the Central Council.
One of Somali’s most prominent poets and songwriters, Hassan Saleebaan Dhuxul, is also included in the list of members.
Nevertheless, two officials of the party who vied for the top seats had their names omitted from those appearing in the Central Council list.
Mohamoud Hashi Abdi and Mohamed Ibrahim Qabyotire are not members of the party’s central committee.
