The National Consultative and Rectification Forum (NCRF) launched a new political union in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, on Saturday, October 3.
During the launch, politicians from NCRF stated that the country needed more options, especially for the upcoming elections.
However, NCRF is yet to reveal the name of the new political union.
Meanwhile, NCRF urged the government of Somaliland and the electoral body to ensure that the country holds timely elections.
Professor Abdisalan Yasin, a member of NCRF, reminded the government that electoral delays and unlawful extensions put a massive constraint on the country’s democracy.
Professor Yasin blasted the government for being at the forefront of breaching the country’s constitution through illegal time extensions of terms and tenures.
Somaliland is scheduled to hold local council and parliamentary polls in the next nine months.
