New Round of Protests Rock Beledweyne

A new round of protests rocked Beledweyne as local residents took to the streets to voice their displeasure with the new HirShabelle administration.

Protestors marched through the streets of the state’s capital on December 31, 2020.

On Thursday, hundreds of residents were seen on the streets protesting the recent election of a new HirShabelle administration.

The residents accuse the new administration of serving the interests of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s administration in Mogadishu.

Furthermore, they also protested the decision by local authorities to arrest tens of locals by security agents from Somalia and Ethiopia.

The protestors said that those detained were only expressing their views, an act that the current constitution supports.
