Newly Elected Senate Deputy Speaker in Meeting with Ex-Somali President

The newly-elected Deputy Speaker of the Senate (Upper House) held a meeting with a former President of Somalia.

The meeting between Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Ali Timacade and ex-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud took place on Thursday, May 5.

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed several issues, including the need for conducting free and fair elections.

Thus far, Somalia has concluded House of the People (Lower House) and Upper House polls.

The East African nation holds presidential polls on May 15.

Ex-President Mohamud has expressed his desire to contest the upcoming presidential elections.

Mohamud’s meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the Senate took place at his residence in Mogadishu.
