The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has been accused of interfering with the ongoing elections for federal parliamentary seats.
Members of Parliament (MPs) from Jubbaland and authorities in Kismayo made the accusations last week.
Moreover, Jubbaland Vice President Mohamed Sayid Aden made the accusation while questioning the presence of NISA forces in Garbaharey.
The forces have made it difficult to conduct elections in the town.
Garbaharey is set to be the venue for holding elections for 16 House of the People (Lower House) seats in the region.
Several regional stakeholders have requested that Garbaharey should not be an elections center.
Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe has repeatedly cited insecurity in the region as a factor preventing it the region from holding free and credible polls.
