NISA Arrest Journalist for Interviewing a Businessman who Supports Al-Shabaab

The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has arrested a Somali journalist for interviewing a businessman who supports Al-Shabaab.

The agency arrested Abdullahi Kulmiye on Saturday night in Mogadishu.

Reports indicate that he recently interviewed Abukar Omar Adaan, a leading business executive in Somalia.

During the interview, Adaan affirmed his sympathies with the Al-Qaeda linked militia group.

The businessman also aligned himself with the ideology and activities of Al-Shabaab, which include the murder African Union (AU) forces and all their allies stationed in Somalia.

His arrest comes a few weeks after President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo said that some journalists in the country are conspiring with extremists.
