NISA Chief in a Closed-Door Meeting with Ex-Somali President

Farah Yasin, who heads the National Intelligence Security Agency (NISA), held a closed-door meeting with a former President of Somalia in Mogadishu on Monday.

Yasin’s meeting with ex-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has raised a few eyebrows.

It comes at a time of heightened political activities around the country headlined with the recent meeting between President Mohamed Farmaajo and other leaders in Dhusamareb.

Mohamud is one of the leaders of the opposition coalition, Forum for National Parties (FNP).

Consequently, he remains one of the top politicians in the country. He voiced support for the outcome of the Dhusamareb III talks between Farmaajo and Federal Member States (FMS).

Last week, Farmaajo and the leaders of the FMS attending the Dhusamareb III talks agreed on an electoral model for the upcoming elections in the country.

Moreover, Yasin’s meeting with Mohamud has taken place as Farmaajo consults widely before appointing the next Prime Minister.

Mahdi M. Gulaid has been the acting premier since Hassan Ali Khaire was ousted by the House of Representatives in late July from the Prime Minister’s office.
