NISA Chief Sanbaloolshe Visits Moqokori as Over 70 Al-Shabaab Militants Killed Near Aadan Yabaal

Moqokori, Hiiraan – Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbaloolshe, arrived in Moqokori town in the Hiiraan region on Monday, accompanied by federal legislator Mohamed Abdi Buraale and senior government officials.

The high-level delegation is on a mission to boost the morale of Somali National Army troops stationed on the frontline in ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab militants.

The visit comes in the wake of a major military success near Aadan Yabaal, where Somali forces, supported by intelligence coordination, killed over 70 Al-Shabaab fighters, including several key commanders.

According to officials, the militants were targeted in a carefully planned offensive aimed at disrupting their movements and dismantling operational bases in the region.

“The operation was a major blow to Al-Shabaab’s command structure in the area,” a military source said, noting that weapons and logistical supplies were also seized.

Clearing operations are currently underway in surrounding villages to ensure the militants do not regroup or plant improvised explosive devices.

NISA officials emphasized the importance of sustained pressure on Al-Shabaab to prevent further attacks on civilian and government targets.

Sanbaloolshe commended the bravery and sacrifice of the troops and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting front-line soldiers with resources and coordination.

The visit highlights the growing momentum of Somali-led operations as the country continues its campaign to liberate remaining territories from Al-Shabaab control.
