NISA Director Guilty of Breakdown of Electoral Talks, says Somali MP

Fahad Yasin, the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), is worth blaming for the collapse of the electoral talks.

Mahad Mohamed Salad, a Member of Parliament (MP) at the Federal Parliament, made this stunning revelation on March 7.

Salad spoke in his capacity as a member of the committee appointed to facilitate the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) talks.

The MP said that in the recent talks between FGS, FMS, and opposition, a close ally of Yasin opposed all issues brought by the other sides.

Salad named Abdirahman Dheere, who is a state minister in FGS, as the person who spoke on behalf of the NISA chief.

Furthermore, Salad said that Dheere appeared to have been reading messages sent to him by Yasin.

The NISA chief is one of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s closest confidants.
