The National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA) has submitted its reports on the charges to be filed against a VOA Somali reporter to the Attorney General.
Consequently, NISA has concluded that Harun Maruf, the reporter in question, has a case to answer in court.
NISA announced this via Twitter when it tweeted, “We have submitted Maruf’s file to the Attorney General. We now expect his case to proceed in court.”
According to NISA, Maruf is guilty of associating with forces that are intent on threatening and compromising the peace, stability, and security of Somalia.
However, Maruf is yet to respond to neither the arrest nor the charges preferred against him by Somali’s intelligence agency.
Maruf’s arrest attracted plenty of criticisms locally and internationally.
The United States embassy in Mogadishu has however said that Maruf is one of the most respected journalists at VOA in Somalia.
