No Somali Civilian Killed, US Military Claims

Amid growing concerns from Amnesty International and other human rights groups, the US military has claimed that its operations in Somalia have not killed a single civilian.

Last week, there were reports that it killed a Somali civilian during one of the strikes organized against Al-Shabaab fighters.

However, US Africa Command (AFRICOM), has provided detailed reports showing that such a thing never took place.

According to AFRICOM, the claims of dead civilians are nothing but the work of the propaganda wing of the Al-Qaeda linked extremist group.

In a statement released to the press on Wednesday, AFRICOM said, “Our April 10 operations killed a terrorist. We have confirmed that he was an Al-Shabaab fighter.”

AFRICOM’s statement also indicated that the dead man had been responsible for murdering six innocent Somalis.

The US military also provided further details to prove its claims. It said the dead Al-Shabaab fighter was in a village parading bodies of Somali National Army soldiers he murdered.

They then isolated him in a remote and secluded place before launching the precise airstrike that killed him.
