The government of Norway has written to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) urging for “swift transfer of power” to new leadership.
Norway issued a press release on March 23 to this effect.
In the press release, Norwegian government expressed “deep concerns” over the lack of progress by Somali leaders to resolve the electoral crisis.
Specifically, Norway said that the “lack of political goodwill” by stakeholders to seek lasting solutions to the impasse was troubling.
In its statement, Norway mentioned that FGS is obligated to “secure swift transfer of power.”
It also placed this burden on all political actors in the East African nation.
Norway urged courageous leadership to emerge in Somalia to seek consensus that ensures the country holds the long-awaited parliamentary and presidential elections.
