A Norwegian man who has been in detention in Somaliland would not be executed immediately, the government has announced.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the government would not proceed with the execution.
Farid Bouras, the lawyer representing the man, said that he had spoken to the Yasin Haji Mohamoud, the foreign affairs minister on November 20.
Bouras and Haji spoke on phone.
He said Haji assured him that the Norwegian would not be executed for the next few days.
Furthermore, Bouras confirmed that the minister assured him the death sentence is not final. Haji pledged that the matter would be tabled before President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland.
