Ambassador Mike Nithavrianakis of the United Kingdom expressed optimism that the results of the upcoming November 13 election in Somaliland might provide an opportunity to revive the long-stalled negotiations with Somalia.
These talks had nearly broken down following a contentious Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Somaliland and Ethiopia, which has been a point of friction.
The Ambassador’s comments highlight the potential for the electoral outcome to shift dynamics and open avenues for renewed dialogue between Somaliland and Somalia.
Amb. Nithavriankis was speaking to local media on Friday.
He expressed hope that the talks would receive the much-needed boost once Somaliland concludes its presidential and parliamentary polls on November 13.
