Somaliland President Discusses Elections Preparedness with Top Security Officers

Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi held a high-level security meeting focused on election preparedness with top military commanders and national security heads.

Welcoming Chief of the Military, Major General Nuh Ismail Tani, at the Officers’ Headquarters on Tuesday, President Bihi expressed appreciation for the security forces’ commitment to national defense and public safety.

During a closed-door session, officials, including Brigadier General Abdi Abdillahi Hassan (Abdi-dheere) and Brigadier General Ibrahim Abdi Haji Mahamoud, updated the President on the forces’ readiness to ensure a secure and orderly election.

They reported on security deployments across polling stations, with units designated to safeguard ballot boxes and maintain public order.

Major General Mohamed Adan Saqadhi (Dabagale), the Police Chief, further assured that security personnel are prepared to respond to any disturbances, stressing their neutrality and training for election duties.

The President commended the security forces and highlighted that the National Election Commission (NEC) will oversee the electoral process.

He emphasized that, on election day, security forces will act under NEC’s directives, supporting their operations while upholding national defense and public safety roles.
