The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) has joined calls for the cessation of violence in Las Anod.

NUSOJ intensified the calls for the warring parties in Las Anod to cease the violence that has claimed several lives in the region.

NUSOJ called the clashes a “repressive situation.”

The organization reiterated that it stands in solidarity with journalists and other media personnel facing the unprecedented situation in Las Anod.

It also called for the total protection of journalists.

NUSOJ called on authorities to guarantee the safety and basic human rights of journalists, which include freedom of expression.

“We urge authorities to guarantee journalists and the public unfettered access to information,” NUSOJ concluded.
