OCHA Provides Humanitarian Assistance to 78,000 in Somalia Affected by Cyclone Gati

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has provided humanitarian assistance to over 78,000 people affected by Cyclone Gati in Somalia.

In late November, Cyclone Gati made a landfall in the coastal areas of Somalia’s Puntland region.

It left a trail of destruction, death, and homeless individuals in its wake.

In its latest update, OCHA said that tens of thousands of people affected by the deadly cyclone have already received humanitarian assistance.

It mentioned that around 60,000 people in Iskushuban District, which was the epicenter of Cyclone Gati.

Apart from that, another batch of 40,000 in Bossaso District were the victims of floods arising out of the cyclone.

OCHA said that it had 101,000 people to provide humanitarian assistance to in the region.

Out of that number, it was pleased to note that 78,000 have received the help they sought.
