The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) claims that the ongoing drought in Somalia has affected over 6 million lives as of May 2022.
OCHA released a press statement on Saturday, May 28.
In the statement, OCHA indicated that the drought has hurt the lives of more than 6 million people in the country.
Moreover, it also discovered that the drought has displaced more than 771,000 people from their homes.
Consequently, the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) has multiplied exponentially all over the country.
Most of the displaced left their homes to search for food, water, and pasture.
Lives and livelihoods have been hit hard by what many observers call the worst drought in Somalia in 40 years.
