OCHA Warns of Possibility of Increased Floods in Somalia

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned of the possibility of increased floods in Somalia.

According to the global organization, sustained heavy rains in the Ethiopian Highlands have caused river levels in Southern Somalia to remain dangerously high.

Consequently, OCHA has urged locals to be on the lookout for the floods, which could rock the region any time soon.

OCHA also mentioned that the consecutive rainy seasons – Gu and Hagaa – in the country have worsened the situation.

The organization has warned of a possible humanitarian crisis in Jubbaland, HirShabelle, and Southwest states.
