One Person Killed in an Al-Shabaab Attack in Afgoye

On Wednesday, one person was killed when Al-Shabaab carried out a deadly attack in Afgoye, Somalia.

The incident, which took place in a town located 30kms to the northwest of Mogadishu, is the latest deadly attack by Al-Shabaab extremists.

According to security agents in the area, an Al-Shabaab fighter hurled a hand grenade towards a group of traders at a local market specializing in livestock trade.

One individual was killed while four others were injured.

Questions are now being asked about the country’s level of preparedness to fend off attacks by Al-Shabaab in the face of the impending elections.

Although the real targets of the Afgoye attack remain unknown, it is believed that Al-Shabaab might have been targeting Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers in the region.
