The ongoing drought in Somalia has the capacity to displace more than 1 million Somalis in the country.
International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported this on January 25.
IOM raised awareness on this issue when publishing the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) report on Tuesday.
According to IOM, the displacement of more than 1 million Somalis could take place by April 2022.
In some parts of Somalia, the scarcity of water is the worst experienced in 40 years.
Shallow wells and boreholes are already running dry in several places.
IOM’s DTM report states that between 1,036,000 and 1,415,000 people could be displaced within the next six months.
